Still testing the waters

It's 6:00 a.m. and the day is about to begin. It's Sunday, April 26, 2009. Today also happens to be my 21st birthday.

I had planned to keep my Myspace account up until today, giving everyone a one day's warning that I was deleting the account, and telling them where they can find me on the web. I didn't like that idea. I have some faithful blog readers on Myspace and some of them have become very good friends. I wouldn't betray my friends like that.

Still, what was once a fun way to put your little spot on the web has become a hassle. People ask for more pictures. People ask to be my friend, and all of this person's friends are teen aged boys without shirts or in suggestive poses. I went through that and I don't want to go back. I've seen the same model's face on more than one Myspace page, each member claiming it to be his own. I'm tired of the photos of models, some of whom I knew personally, with the word "Me" underneath. It sickens me.

I started my second Myspace account as a blog tool, nothing more. I gained some faithful readers, and I won't let these readers down. I'm through with the lewd comments. I'm through with watching certain friends being caught up in the grasp of Myspace fame, stretching the limits by posing in their briefs with the outline of a semi-erect penis in full view.

Anyone who has known me on Myspace knows that I've been threatening to pull the plug for a long time. Although everyone said I should stay, I can't. It's easy to simply block people who have caused problems with me, but that doesn't resolve the issue.

The time has come. I will be testing Google Blogger. I will post parallel blogs in both places. My intent is to delete my Myspace account one week from today.

Thank you for your understanding and your support.

  1. What began as a comment to your own blog has ended up as a blog entry of my own (http://n1spirit.blogspot.com/2010/02/blog-worth-following.html). Let's face facts; you know me! I am long-winded usually have far too much to say. It's a fault, I admit that has often been my downfall. But you also know that I care about you very much; you're an inspiration and I think you will see that if you follow the link (above) and read what I wrote about you. And Michael, you've shared enough since we became friends, for me to understand just why you feel as you do about MySpace… Furthermore, anyone who "knows you" who is unwilling to give you the benefit of the doubt and understand that you have had good reasons for your actions, does not deserve your friendship. I'm THRILLED to hear that David will be able to go to Bali with you! I know how difficult it is when the two of you are apart and I think it's wonderful he will have the opportunity to be there, right by your side. This will be something that the both of you will look back upon as a treasured moment. (Just behave yourselves!) Yeah, right… Like I think that is going to happen. LOL You know that I love you as I would a younger brother so here's me sending you, David, your mom and the rest of your family many heartfelt hugs. Just keep on being true to yourself and all of the rest of the world will think every bit as highly of you as I do.

    Namaste,
    Michael
